Local School to get visit from Rotary Club

Members of a Shropshire Rotary Club which has been supporting a local school for exactly a decade have been invited to pay it a special visit. And the opportunity will be enthusiastically taken up.
The visit will be a ‘first of its kind’ when most members of Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club accept the special offer of visiting the Grange School Harlescott for the first time.
The story of Shrewsbury Severn Rotary’s support of the Grange School now goes back a decade to the days when head Charlie Summers was first appointed.
And although there has been a regular on-going communication between the two parties over the decade, including Rotary’s regular Santa visit in the run-up to Christmas, the club as a whole has not previously experienced and enjoyed a visit as a group.
Said president Johnathan Callwood: “When Charlie paid the club a visit earlier this month to outline - and request - our further support of the Grange School, members were unanimous that we wanted to take up that opportunity to see the benefits for ourselves.
“As Rotarians, we are proud to have been associated with the school for a decade and delighted with the achievements that have been made under Charlie’s stewardship.
“However, we appreciate that life moves on and the school has a new set of demanding requirements to keep up with the times.
“We need to keep ourselves abreast of these developments and members rightly think a visit is in both our interests to identify further important Rotary support.”
Said head Charlie: “On behalf of the Grange, I can’t thank Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club enough for their endearing support which now stretches over a decade and which in my experience is quite phenomenal.
“We have appreciated over the years Rotary providing us with a Santa which has made our Christmases magical for both children and staff.
“And I shall be delighted to welcome more members to see at first hand the progress we have made through Rotary support – and now the further current needs for their continued support.”
Plans are actively being made for Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club members to visit the school next month.
